Shelton Junior School are looking for a visual artist

Address Carlton Avenue, Shelton Lock, Derby, DE24 9EJ

Shelton Junior School is a foundation school with 280 pupils. They are in the city of Derby serving diverse communities. Although only a mile and a half from the edge of Derby, the majority of their children come from outside of the catchment area. Fifteen percent of their children are from ethnic minorities and eight percent speak English as an additional language. They like to think they are a happy and friendly school and are always open to new ideas.

About our project
They are looking for an inspirational practitioner that can work with them to develop a project that will excite and engage their Year 4 children and inspire them to write.

They wish to link the project to their theme of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and are looking for a visual artist for pupils and staff to work with. Their initial thoughts are that they would like to develop resources to promote recycling and composting, and to create sculptures, decorative items and new objects from ‘waste’, but they are also open to ideas. They want to be inspired and excited!

They are looking for a practitioner who can engage pupils through innovative and creative practice. They are willing to share their skills and practice and want to work with a practitioner who is equally willing to share and to work with them to ensure their project is sustainable.
